- Metal paint bucket (available at home improvement stores)
- Americana Acrylic Paints (DecoArt): French Vanilla; Warm White; Burnt Umber; Lamp Black; True Red; Cadmium Yellow; Light Avocado; Foliage Green; Slate Gray; Deep Burgundy
- Glistening SNOW-TEX Glittering Snow (DecoArt)
- Multi-Purpose Seal
- Paintbrushes
- Craft stick
- Black permanent marker
- Vinegar
- newspaper (to cover work surface)
Instructions for Christmas sheep gift pail.

1. Print out pattern. Clean pail with vinegar water. Dry thoroughly. Apply sealer. Basecoat bucket with two coats French Vanilla.
2. Transfer design to center front of pail. Transfer details as needed.
3. Paint snow at bottom rim and sheep bodies Warm White then shade around heads with Slate Gray.
Fillin the Hats and scarf True Red; shade Deep Burgundy and paint Leg warmers and trim on Santa hats Warm White.
Next, paint stripes on leg warmers True Red and strips on red hats Light Avocado and paint Antlers Burnt Umber.
Ball ornaments are dots of Cadmium Yellow, Light Avocado and True Red with Warm White dots. Holly leaves are Light Avocado with True Red berries. Eyes and legs are Lamp Black.
4. Apply sealer. Mix it but do not shake the sealer as it will create tiny bubbles. Allow the sealer to dry thouroghly.
5. Outline details with marker.
6. Use craft stick to apply SNOW-TEX over snow at bottom rim of pail.
7. Follow instructions on recipe and fill pail with treat.
This spicy cookie is a fragrant spin on the Scottish staple, shortbread. Shortbread gets its name from the fact that these cookies are very “short” or rich in butter. They use no eggs so are very useful when you find yourself needing a dessert or snack and have no eggs. These cookies are very tasty and freeze well.
Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted softened butter
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup light brown sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon freshly ground nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Heat the oven to 350 degrees F and grease a 9 x 13-inch pan.
- In a large bowl cream the butter and sugars together until light.
- Mix in the vanilla extract.
- In a small bowl mix together the flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
- Slowly blend the flour mixture into the butter mixture until well mixed.
- Press the dough evenly into the prepared pan. Using a fork or knife, press decorations into the dough if desired.
- Bake for 17-22 minutes, or until golden brown around the edges.
- Let cool completely, then cut into desired shapes.
