My first introduction to Domino Art came from the internet. I was completely fascinated because I really like working on small canvases…the smaller the better. Plus, my moto is always…if it isn’t moving…alter it! Most of my investigating was done online. I discovered that you can strip a domino by soaking it in bleach. So, when I prepare dominos I always do it in bulk….sometime a couple of hundred at a time and a big 5 gallon pail. I throw them in in an afternoon and agitate them once in a while. Then I just leave them over night and rinse them well the next day. Once you’ve done that part, you are all set. The dominos above I simply stamped with permanent black ink, colored the edges with a black Sharpie and glued some mini playing cards to the top. One of them has a small domino layered on top of a jumbo one. Once everything is dry, I used self adhesive magnet strips on the back and was good to go. You can do just about anything with a domino. I’ve seen some really beautiful domino jewelry and some made into buttons. Happy Altering!! Can’t wait to see what you are doing with your dominos.

These are awesome. I like to alter the dominoes for jewelry, but had not thought of the “game” theme. I even have some mini playing cards. Thanks for the inspiration!

Thank you for the altered dominoes inspiration. I’ve always wanted to try now that you made it sound so simple, I will.
