Bonfire Roasting Sticks are a great addition to your camping gear or backyard bonfire supplies. Who can resist gooey marshmallows? Certainly not me! I however do not like using tree branches off the ground like I did growing up. These bonfire roasting sticks are easy to make, use recycled material and can be personalized for each member of your family. Do not let your family use them like swords like mine tried to do. Yes, you can use them for hotdogs and any other food you can put on a stick and cook. Just clean in between foods.
MATERIALS for Bonfire Roasting Sticks:
- Recycled wire hanger
- Wooden dowel, 6” length
TOOLS
- DecoArt Americana Acrylic Paints, in colors of choice
- Drill and 1/4” bit
- Wire cutters
- Aleene’s Original Tacky Glue
BASIC SUPPLIES for Bonfire Roasting Sticks:
black marker, paintbrush, newspaper (to cover work surface)
Instructions for Bonfire Roasting Sticks
1. Adults, please help kids when using drill, wire cutters and saw. This is a craft for kids but not necessarily by kids. 
2. On a covered work surface, paint dowel length (handle) in colors of choice. Add camouflage, polka dots, kid’s name, or camp’s name on the handle. Let dry.
3. Untwist wire hanger and straighten (for stick). Use wire cutters to cut length to 30″.
4. Use the drill to drill a hole in the center of the dowel end. Spot glue hole; insert the stick. Let dry.
Tip
1. For ease in straightening wire hanger, have one person hold the end of the wire between pliers while the second person works to straighten wire length.
