Personalized party decor doesn’t have to be time-consuming. You can make decorations in a snap with colorful cardstock, a cut file, and the Cricut. I selected a set of free SVG cut files called Mermaid Life designed by Jen Goode. I used the seashells only. All the images are free so have at it and create something wonderful.
I like using paper cut-outs on toothpicks. It is easy to have a big impact on a small space by using different heights of toothpicks on a cake. A plain white cake makes a great base for paper party decorations. By selecting several colors of paper you can layer the files in lots of different ways to create an easy cake topper for DIY party decor.
To add “sand” to the cake I used a meat pounder and a plate to mash graham crackers. Start with small pieces of the graham crackers and press the meat pounder into them gently or they will fly everywhere.
