Farmhouse ornaments a DIY Dollar Tree craft idea for cheap.  Dollar Tree ornaments or Dollar store ornaments can both be used to make inexpensive Christmas crafts. Both stores have fun and cheap items you can use for Christmas decorations, crafts, kids crafts and ornaments you can DIY.

Not only is my Christmas ornament craft idea cheap it is also easy to make. And did I mention fast too? You could make a dozen farmhouse style ornaments with items purchased at the Dollar Store or Dollar Tree.

I purchased the Apple Barrel paint when they were on sale 2 for a $1 and the ribbon was left over from another project.  I’m sure I purchased it on the cheap too. My total for 4 ornaments was under $4 and I always have a Sharpie on hand so I am not including that in the price.

Supplies needed for Farmhouse ornaments:

• Covered work surface
• Apple Barrel acrylic paint: White and Flag Red
• Black  permanent marker
• Round globe ornament 2 for $1 at the Dollar Tree
• Ribbon is optional

Instructions to make the Farmhouse ornaments:

1. Cover your work surface. If you are messy like me wear an apron and use gloves.
2. Clean and dry the globe ornaments. Remove metal tops and set aside.
3. Pour a small amount of white paint into two of the globes and swirl around until the paint covers the inside of the ornament.
4. Repeat step 2 for the color red.
5. Place metal tops back on while the paint is wet inside. 
6. Use a permanent marker like a Sharpie for the hand lettering. If you don’t feel comfortable with your handwriting you can cut out vinyl on the Cricut or purchase stickers.
7. Once the paint on the inside has dried you can add a ribbon or jute cording of your choice.
