A DIY faux Flokati bench made from a rescued $3 stool from St. Vinny’s . As soon as I walked into the small furniture section of the store I knew I was getting the little bench. It was perfect for this project that had been stuck in my head for a while and if not for this one then it was certainly going to get used for something else. Plus $3 made it a steal. It did take a little repair work shoring up the legs. Nothing a little Gorilla Glue could not handle. The bench was perfect and I ended up giving to a friend as a gift. She loved it and it looks great in her house. It made the perfect foot stool for her living room.
Materials for the DIY faux Flokati bench:
- Faux Fur
- Cushion Wrap
- Staple gun and staples
- Scissors
- Sandpaper, nails, hammer and glue for repairs
Instruction for the DIY faux Flokati bench:
- Make any repairs to the stool as needed. I had to do some minor work. If you are using Gorilla Glue follow the manufacturers directions.
- Clean the stool too. I used a little sandpaper to clean up the rough edges and added a coat of wood renew stuff to it also. The lable was not on the bottle so I cannot tell you what it was.
- Wrap at the cushion wrap around the top of the stool. Staple in place. You can add more layers if you would like it padded a bit more. Trim of any excess.
- Wrap the faux fur around the top of the stool and staple in place. Trim off any excess faux fur.
Enjoy your foot stool with the faux flokati. If you like the look of flokati you can get the faux fur in lots of colors from Shannon Fabric. The Cushion Wrap can be purchased through the link above or at many big box stores.
