Moroccan Bangles – if you ever poked around this site – you know we love to make bangles. They are a great project that is functional and fashionable be finished in an evening. You can use rub-ons in any style to create the style you are looking for in an accessory. I have a penchant for all things Moroccan and Moroccan bangles are the bee’s knees. I love warm earth tones and bold jewel tones found in Moroccan art and fashion. And later, if you decide you want a different look you can paint over it and start again.
Materials for Moroccan Bangles:
- Wooden bracelet
- Americana Acrylic paints: brown; green; mustard
- DecoArt Metallic Lustre – Copper Kettle
- Rub-ons: Bollywood (Frances Meyer); Lyon (Prima Marketing)
- Liquid Laminate
- paintbrush, Series 730B (Arnold Grumbacher)
Directions
Gold Bracelet
- Base-coat bracelet with mustard paint . Let the bangle dry.
- Apply bronze Rub ‘n Buff with your finger or paper towel.
- Apply rub-ons in the pattern of your choice. I use a popsicle stick to apply them.
- Use paintbrush to apply three coats of Clear Coat to bracelet, letting dry between coats. Try not to stir the clear coat or you will get tiny bubbles. If you do get bubbles you can sand them off and re-coat.
Green Bracelet
- Base-coat the bracelet with green paint. Let the bangle dry.
- Apply rub-ons in the pattern of your choice.
