Easy painted rock ideas for father’s day. Show dad just how much you love him with a painted rock or even a few painted rock. It is a great craft idea for little kids to make for their dads. You can put a protective coating on the rocks and keep them in the back yard to be admired year round. Very few supplies are needed if the kids are painting rocks. I would suggest using a base coat and a sealer coat so the rocks can be stowed outside.

Have the kids collect the rocks and wash the and dry them one day or one afternoon or you can do that and save a step. Base coat the rocks with sealer like. You will also want to apply a top coat of Mod Podge or Ceramcoat Exterior/Interior Varnish to keep paint from chipping. I speak from experience.
My seven-year old painted these for her father and the saying she chose makes my heart melt. I wish she knew the Air Supply – “Can’t Live” from the 91. I have always liked the song.
The smaller rocks are for him to take to work and place upon the shelf over his desk. They spell out the word MEEP from one of her favorite cartoons. The character is the alien from the TV show Phineas and Ferb. Some days the sound is so cute and other not so much after the 900th time.
Let your kids paint what ever they want on the rocks. I suggest having them use paint brushes you no longer care about or pick up some super cheap brushes. My daughter has her own set and is responsible with them. I also let her use my posca pen to write the phrase. And she wants you all to notice she placed a heart above the “i” in live.
