Make an easy burlap wrapped painted terra-cotta pot in under 15 minutes. Plus or minus a couple of minutes for drying time. Paint is one of the fastest and cheapest ways to give a dash of color to totally change the look of a piece. I’m not kidding when I say it can totally change the look – check out this buffet I used chalk paint on a few years ago. Start small if you are new to painting. A painted terra-cotta pot is a great way to begin.
Supplies for painted terra-cotta pot

- black paint
- paint brush and covered work surface
- burlap ribbon
- fabric glue
Instructions for painted terra-cotta pot
- Wash and dry terra-cotta pot to remove any debris. Make sure the terra-cotta pot is completely dry before painting. If there are any rough spots sand it before you wash it.
- Paint the pot with the black paint. Sand if needed and apply additional coat of paint and allow the painted terra-cotta pot to dry.
- Cut burlap to size and glue in place.
Tip to cut burlap straight
Pull a single strand of the burlap all the way from one side to the other.
Where the strand is missing is where you will cut and boom, you have a straight edge. Repeat for the other side of your burlap.
