Make easy sew hand warmers from super soft Cuddle Cake pre-cut fabric by Shannon Fabrics. They are going to be all the rage at preschool this year. Okay, maybe not really but my daughter thinks they are super cool and so do her little class mates. They were simple to make and she is happy her hands are warm. The ribbon I used is extra long. I threaded it through her sleeves when we went out for a walk. I did not want her to lose it. For the picture I have it doubled up and around her neck. You can use wither method.
Supplies for Easy sew hand warmers:
- 4 squares of Shannon cuddle cakes (dark blue, light blue, dark green, light green)
- 1/3 yard Poly-fil High loft batting
- crochet flowers from Ikea
- 1 yard Ribbon from Offray
- sewing machine, coordinating thread and a hand needle and thread.
Instructions for Easy sew hand warmers:
- Start by making your half square triangles. Using a ruler and a pencil, draw a diagonal line across the square.
- Place the two squares on top of one another (right sides together – meaning that the “pretty” sides of the fabric are touching), and stitch 1/4″ away from the line, on both sides.
- Use scissors or a rotary cutter to cut down the line.
- Press the block open, with the seam allowance to one side. Stitch the blocks together, using a 1/4″ seam allowance.
- Repeat for inside pieces and the back piece. You now have squares with half triangles.
- Place two squares pretty side together. Sew three sides together and place batting inside. Sew ribbon into the 4th side. Repeat for other set of material.
- Sew the open sides of both pieces together.
- Stich the ends together to form a tube. This is where you insert your hands.
- Hand stitch on the pre made flowers.

This is great, but the link is dead and I’m trying to figure out what size the squares should be. Thank you.
