Fun and easy painted rock ideas for you to make this summer. Not only are they easy to make but they are pretty cheap to make too. Rock painting is a fun group activity or a rainy day activity. If you are in charge of a VBS you could set up a rock painting station and the kids could leave the scripture inspired rock all about town spreading a little bit of you.

As a kid from the 80’s I had a pet rock, not quite the same as a painted rock, it was a rock in a box. I named my pet rock Bodvecka. I am pretty sure I was a weird kid and I might still be a weird adult. But life is much more interesting when you are a little different. But I digress, let’s talk about how fun and easy it is to paint rocks. You can go with simple outdoor or multi-surface paint. My favorite is the Martha Stewart Multi-Surface. Darn, Martha always making the best stuff. LOL
This might be my favorite painted rock. It is an alien painted rock that glows in the dark. Too bad I left it somewhere without taking a photo. The glow in the dark paint actually works.
Now if you want to create more detailed painted rocks I suggest my very favorite paint pens ever. They are POSCA pens. I have only found them on Amazon. The links below are my affiliate links where I earn a commission if you make a purchase.
A little about POSCA Pens for painted rocks
I cannot say enough good stuff about them. They are a little pricey but well worth it. Unlike a normal paint pen, they have a specially designed nib that keeps the extra-fine point an actual fine point. If you don’t buy the big variety pack do your self a favor and purchase the white. It is the only white paint pen that I have ever used until it was empty. Normally they dry up before I can use up all the paint.
This is a great starter pack of paint marker colors and it includes black and white. If you can fit them into your budget at least try the white Uni-posca 3 pack now if you really want to splurge and I did get the 21 piece Uni-posca paint marker set. I am pretty cheap when it comes to my supplies and I like to get the best bang for my buck. SO if you purchase the POSCA pens I hope you love them as much as I do.
