Directions:
- Cut a piece of cardstock 9” x 7” and take a whole piece of 12” x 12” cardstock.
- With a foam brush, start applying Mod Podge to the cardstock taking a small section at a time.
- Layer the Yarn in strips to the cardstock being careful not to leave gaps between the strands. Set those aside to dry thoroughly. Be sure to leave yarn strands hanging off the edge of the 9” x 7” piece.
- Next, iron a piece of fabric and cut a piece of fabric 12” x 8” using a rotary cutter and cutting mat.
- On the un-patterned side of the fabric, attach ½” fusible web tape to the long edge. Fold it over and iron to fuse. Repeat at the opposite side. This reduces the size of the fabric from 8” to 7” across.
- What will become the top of the hanging, attach a piece of ¼” fusible web tape, fold that over and iron to fuse.
- Measure ½”down from the top of the fabric and attach another strip of ¼” fusible web tape. Then fold down from the top so that you will have 1 1/8” border at the top.
- Iron to fuse the web to the fabric. You should now have a loop across the top for hanging.
- Next attach a piece of ¼” fusible web tape to the bottom of the fabric. Fold over an iron to fuse. Repeat once more so that you have a nice finished edge.
- Cut a piece of dowel 10” long. Wrap with flat ribbon and run that through the loop at the top of the fabric. The pattern side should be face down.
- Cut a 14” long piece of ribbon and tie it to each end of the dowel.
- Take a scrap piece of fabric and run it through the Sizzix Big Shot with the circle die. Set aside for later.
- Take the 12” x 12” piece of yarn covered cardstock and cut into quarters. Run each quarter through the Sizzix Big Shot with the Leaves die.
- Spray 6 large leaves with Denim Color Wash and blot with a paper towel. Set aside to dry.
- Spray 6 medium leaves with Wild Plum Color Wash and blot with a paper towel. Set aside to dry.
- 16. Spray 3 small leaves with Lettuce Color Wash and 3 small leaves with Meadow Color Wash. Blot with paper towel and set aside to dry.
- Take the 9” x 7” yarn covered card stock and trim the yarn that is hanging from the sides so that you have ½’ of fringe on the right and left side of the paper. It will look like a little area rug.
- Cut a piece of fusible web so that it measures 9” x 7”. Attach that to the paper side of the yarn covered piece.
- Next, fit that piece…yarn side up…into the hanging fabric piece. Iron the fabric side to the paper so it fuses.
- Once the dyed leaves are dry, arrange the Denim leaves so they make a flower, attach to the background with Mod Podge.
- Layer the Wild Plum leaves between the Denim leaves and attach with Mod Podge.
- Arrange one light colored leaf and one dark colored leaf at the top right corner of the hanging. Repeat at the bottom left corner with Mod Podge.
- Use Mod Podge to glue the rickrack across the top fabric border and the string/loop ribbon by the leaves to make stems.
- Attach the remaining 2 leaves to the rickrack at the top of the hanging with Mod Podge.
- Thread yarn through the buttons and tie off.
- Glue the buttons…one at the top between the leaves…the other two at the top of each stem….with Mod Podge.
- Finally, with Mod Podge, glue the fabric circle to the center of the large flower.
