Not only does this Handmade Christmas gift have a super cool spoon with Wood Burning and it is wrapped in a useful kitchen towel but the Handmade Christmas gift that is inside is pretty awesome too. This was the drawing on the spoon. I know my finished version looks nothing like the drawing. And if you look really closely you can see I gave my owl an extra claw on the finished spoon. They only have three. I should have paid a little more attention to the original drawing. LOL
This gift set is for a friend who is newly single and now lives alone. I included a Mexican Rice soup single, seasoned crackers and Tex Mex Taco Mix. This particular friend loves Mexican and is just learning how to cook for one. The kitchen towel, trivet and spoon can be used long after the food is consumed.
The Cracker seasoning recipe can be found here -> Zesty Ranch Crackers They make a great handmade gift all by themselves.
The Tex Mex Taco mix recipe:
- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- 4 teaspoons paprika
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoons ground ginger
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon dried onions
- 1/4 teaspoon ground thyme
- 1/4-1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
Mix all the ingredients together and add to the jelly jar or a zip top bag. When I am making the mix I multiply the ingredients by 4 and save for use later. I used the same mix in the Mexican Rice soup single. The mix can be added to ground beef or chicken. It can be used a base for chili or as a dip too.
To make the Mexican Rice soup single.
- 2 tablespoons of rice
- 1 tablespoon of dried vegetables
- 1 teaspoon Tex Mex Seasoning Mix
- 1 chicken bouillon cube
Directions to make the soup – add 3 cups water to a pan and add the ingredients of the soup single bring to a boil. Cover and let simmer for 20 minutes. If you like more broth you can add another 1/2 cup of water.
