Handmade gift idea
Wine or sparkling cider are always nice to give as a hostess gift. Let the hostess know how much you really appreciate them with a lovely gift bag that you made by hand. This gift bag was made from some burlap, ribbon, Doodlebug Christmas fabric, felt, embroidery floss and hot glue.
To make circles I used the bottom of a glass. I traced one size for the felt base and a second size for the fabric. Before I cut out the pieces of fabric and felt I used fusable webbing on the back. There are quite a few brands on the market. Whichever brand you select go for the lightest weight. If it is to heavy it will be difficult to get the needle through.
I freehanded the teardrop shaped ornament on the back of the fusable webbing with a pencil. I used the basic shape of the circle and then added the drop at the bottom. I did the same for the felt too. Using really good scissors makes a huge difference when cutting.
After adhering the pieces together, I used a blanket stitch to adhere the pieces to the burlap bag. Cut the ribbon to the length needed to make it look like they are hanging from the top of the bag. Adhere the bow and ribbon with hot glue. I hope you have enjoyed the quick directions for this project. If you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment.
