Lemon Salt in a Jar is a great seasoning or finishing salt and a wonderful way to insert a small burst of flavor into pastas, salads, poultry dishes, fish plates and appetizers. This herb-infused salt is fragrant and can be substituted for unseasoned salt in any savory recipe. We enjoy it on popcorn quite often and I will give a few tips below on how to flavor your popcorn.
Ingredients and tools for Lemon Salt:
- 1/2 cup sea salt
- 2 small Meyer lemons, scrubbed ( Meyer, I think are the best tasting and most fragrant lemons)
- zester
- saute pan
- wooden spoon
- scissors
- fabric
- twine
- button
- tag of some sort
- Jar or salt shaker
1. Combine salt and lemon zest in a sauté pan. Place over medium heat, and warm through, about 10 -15 minutes or until the zest looks dehydrated.
3. Let stand for 24 to 48 hours.2. Fill desired containers with lemon sea salt and seal the container.Instructions for Jar decor:
1. Cut a circle of fabric about 1.5 to 2 inches larger than your lid.
2. Place fabric on lid and wrap twine around and add the tag and a button. Next, tie a knot in the center and trim off excess.
Option 1 – The Seasoned Hot Butter Method
Melt butter. Stir seasoning mix into butter making sure to eliminate all lumps. Pour a little over fresh, hot popcorn. Toss to mix. Pour a little more over popcorn, toss to mix. Repeat until butter and seasoning mix has been evenly spread over popcorn.
Option 2 – The Dry Sprinkle Method
Melt butter. Pour a little over fresh, hot popcorn. Toss to mix. Pour a little more over popcorn, toss to mix. Repeat until all butter has been evenly spread over popcorn. Quickly sprinkle and toss dry seasoning mix equally over popcorn.
