mermaid beach party game ideas you can make

Mermaid beach party games and activities can be fun and easy at the same time.  We kept it easy and somewhat old school with Under water limbo, Pin the tail on the whale, and walking the bridge from island to island or walking the plank plus a Go fish using a stick and sewn fish. (MERMAID TUTU)

• 3-4 foot pole or tube
• plastic table cloth and other food and party supplies from Oriental Trading
• Oly-Fun fabric in Slate, Snow white, blue, sea green
• Scissors, coordinating thread
• Sewing machine or glue
• Straight pins or glue dots. (your call on the safety)
• dowel rod
• String
• Small Branch
• Washer and magnets
• wood plank and crates
• Polyfil stuffing

 

To make the underwater limbo stick we used a large tube from the fabric bolt.  You could use a broom stick or closet rod or even a branch. The leftover plastic table covers and Olyfun from the bolt were cut into strips and tied along the tube and they were random lengths and widths. It was really very simple and the kids loved the twist on traditional limbo.

Draw 6-8 pairs of fish.  Sew fish 3/4th of the way together and leave an opening to stuff in a magnet or two and then fill with Polyfil stuffing and sew the hole closed.  You can hand sew or machine sew on the Olyfun.

This game is self-explanatory.  You can make it with what ever supplies you have on hand.  The milk crates we used might or might not be crates we used to hold up our TV in college.  I honestly have no clue where they came from or how old they are but there were two of them and they worked perfectly.  

These kids loved walking the plank and it was not too high for their skills or comfort level.

We also made sand art necklaces. Naturally, this was an outdoor activity.
