Mermaid themed party invitations and paper decorations
The mermaid themed party invitations and decorations were created from art I ordered online. I saw an print that an artist friend created and I emailed her and asked if I could buy an image for party invitations and decorations. We agreed on a price and I made the invitations, thank you notes and food labels from her art work. She sent the art to me pre-sized and ready for me to print. The decorations for her party were based on the colors in the image she sent. I used cream muslin and polymer clay starfish that my mom and I made. Her online store is whimsyville.com
The food for the mermaid themed party was labeled with beachy ocean sounding names. You can use the list we created or you can make up your own. Several of the children attending keep Kosher so I kept the menu as close to Kosher and kid friendly as possible. It was pretty easy to do. To make the crab sandwiches I cut mini croissants in half. Placed a couple of cheese slices in-between and added two toothpicks with google eyes.
Our menu is below:
Shark Teeth – cheese cut into triangles
Fish & Chips – gold fish pretzels and potato chips
Sea Cucumbers – cucumbers
Seaweed Dip – dill dip
Crab legs – carrot sticks
Sand Dollars – tortilla chips
Seaweed Skewers – grapes on a skewer
Whales – Whale crackers
Crab Crossing – croissants with cheese and googlie eyes on toothpicks
Ocean Water – Blue raspberry kool aid
I used www.picmonkey.com to arrange the images before printing. It is a free online service. I also printed the titles for the food from there too. Sticking with creams and browns, I used kraft card stock as the base.
