Carla originally made this project for the Buttons Galore & More Blog, and I love it so much I decided to post it here as well. Enjoy!
These blue buttons caught my eye right away. I love the beach and these buttons have the color and shimmer of the ocean on a summer day. They are aptly named “Sea Glass”. I have a big container of natural beads left over from some beachy home décor projects I made last year, and they seemed a perfect complement to the “Sea Glass” buttons. With the addition of some copper findings and chain, I had the supplies for my bracelet.
Supplies Needed:
HAB500 Sea Glass Button Tin
2” aged copper head pins
Aged copper chain and jewelry clasp (or recycled bracelet)
Aged copper jump rings
Assorted natural beads
Round nosed jewelry pliers, wire cutters, flat-nosed pliers (used for grip assistance)
I started the bracelet by forming the button and bead pieces I wanted to drop from the main chain. I threaded buttons and strung beads on 2” copper head pins (a&b). The open end of each pin was formed into a loop using round-nosed jewelry pliers, and the excess wrapped around the pin to add an extra decorative element ©.
After finishing all the button and bead drops, I attached them to the main chain using jump rings. (For a great tutorial on using jump rings, and another take on a button bracelet, check out Vicki’s video.)
I accidentally made one more button drop than I needed for the bracelet, so rather than throw it out I made another one like it and attached them to ear wires. Presto! A matching set for Mom, or other special person!
