Calling all crafty and not so crafty local friends – Have you ever wanted to use a cool piece of equipment for one project? Or to test out how the machine works? Well, have I got wonderful news for you. I am partnering with the Kenton County Library STREAM to use the Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Art and Math (STREAM) Center at the Erlanger Branch. Over the next couple of months, I will show you a fun variety of projects created with machines and supplies they have available for public use.
STEM STEAM and STREAM
You have likely heard of STEM and STEAM. Well as a mom there is a very important term that is just as important, STREAM. The R stands for reading. Without READING and reading comprehension none of the other parts are possible. Reading opens the doors to so many opportunities and I am very happy about this partnership with the Library.
The STEM to STEAM movement has been talked about over the past several years and is surging forward as a positive mode of action to truly meet the needs of a 21st century. STEM alone misses several key components that many employers, educators, and parents have voiced as critical for our children to thrive in the present and rapidly approaching future.

The Erlanger Branch Library – STREAM Center, 401 Kenton Lands Road, Erlanger.
The first project we created using their equipment was a monogrammed tote bag printed and set on their equipment. The heat press made adding the monogram letter fast and very easy. The STREAM attendant will help guide you through the process.
Supplies for STREAM project:
- T-shirt transfer
- Inkjet printer or use the Library printer FREE
- tote bag
- heat press – or go use the library for FREE
- Scissors
Instructions for tote bag STREAM project:
- Print the image of your choice.
- Trim the image to fit on your surface of choice and remove the backing.
- Place the image on the surface and place it on the heat press.
- Then Place the protective sheet on top. The protective sheet is right by the heat press.
Remove your item from the heat press carefully because it is hot and remove the paper from the surface. You now have a very cool personalized item made using the equipment and supplies at the STREAM center.
