Summer herb pots and markers are a great way to bring a little color and flavor into your kitchen. Your sunny kitchen windowsill is the ideal place for herbs and this set of clay pots is perfectly sized to fit. Each pot is faced with an initial of the type of herb growing within. The monogram letter is accented with polymer clay leaves. Small terra-cotta pots are great for growing small herbs such as thyme, sage, chive, dill or go for an italian flare with rosemary and oregano.
Supplies for Summer herb pots and markers:
- Terra cotta pots, 4”
- Wooden items: jumbo craft sticks, 1/2”x3” ovals
- Polyform Sculpey III Polymer Clay: Leaf Green
- Rubber alphabet stamps: 2”-size, 1/2”-size
- Black inkpad
- DecoArt Americana Acrylic Paints: Burnt Orange, Burnt Umber, Cocoa, Snow White, Foliage Green
- Acrylic roller or clay-dedicated rolling pin
- Parchment-lined baking sheet
- Oven
- Aleenes: Original Tacky Glue, Liquid Fusion
- pencil, flat paintbrush, liner paintbrush, white paper scrap
1. Paint clay pots, craft sticks, and ovals Burnt Orange, Burnt Umber, Cocoa, or Foliage Green. Trace 3″ circle on white paper. Transfer circle onto front of pot. Paint circle Snow White. Let dry.
2. Ink 2″ alphabet stamps and stamp circle area on pot with letter of herb or plant name. Ink 1/2″ alphabet stamps and stamp herb or plant name on wooden oval.
3. Remove clay from package. To condition, roll clay in hands until soft, bending and rolling until pliable. If clay cracks, keep conditioning. Use 1/4 package of Leaf Green clay to roll ball in hands. Form 1/4″ leaf shapes from clay, 12 for each pot and two for each marker.
4. Follow manufacturer’s instructions to bake clay leaves on parchment-lined baking sheet. Let cool completely.
5. Use liner and Snow White to paint vein lines on leaves. Use Liquid Fusion to glue leaves on pots around white circle.
6. Use Tacky Glue to glue wooden oval on end of craft stick, leaving 1/2″ on end. Glue two leaves on marker on top and bottom of wooden oval.
