Tissue Paper Texture Canvas Tutorial

Create this fun Valentine canvas with your little sweetheart.

My son is 9 and he does not like to draw.  I can however get him to crumple paper and glue.  So he thought this was an awesome project for us to make on his day off school.  We gathered all of the supplies and began.  Each time we needed to let a layer dry we would play Just Dance 3 on the Wii and let me tell you that this momma still has it!

 

Gather your supplies. I used a variety of colors from Plaid and   the remnants from two containers of Mod Podge.  Luckily I had a back up small bottle if I used up the others.

 

 

Materials: Paint, Mod Podge, Paint Brushes, Tissue Paper, Four 4×4 canvas, One 12×12 Canvas, Chipboard hearts, Sea Glass buttons and Clear Acrylic Alphabet letter, Sizzix Die Cuts, Pan Pastels,  Clear Craft Glue, and Black Fine Point Sharpie.

Directions:

Crumple up a large sheet of tissue paper into a ball.  Cover the canvas with a thick layer of Mod Podge.  Smooth out the tissue paper and lay it on top of the Mod Podge.  Use a paint brush to smooth out and extremely large wrinkles.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Let the paint dry in between layers.  Using three or more colors will give the piece more dimension.

Embellish each square with an element of similar sizes.  I used chipboard shapes that I painted, felt words, die cuts from glitter paper and buttons all left over from other projects.  The most important thing is to have fun.  We sure did!
