Wood slice Ornament

wood slice ornament – Quick and easy wood slice snowflake ornaments you can make in bulk. If you have not browsed the site these last few weeks, you might want to poke around.  I have gone on a wood burning kick lately. I loved doing it as a child. I think I got my first kit in 5th or 6th grade and they were little wood planks with images drawn on them that you traced with the wood burning tool.  The smell of the burnt wood always made me happy.  It was like being back in summer camp with the smaell of burnt wood permeating everything.  My skills have come a long way since the early 80’s.  Or, well at least I think so.  LOL

• Wood slices (pre-drilled and with jute)
• Hot Glue Gun and Glue Stick (if you dont want to drill holes)
• Walnut Hollow Wood burning tool
• Scissors
• Jute cording

Instructions for Wood slice ornament:

1.  Hot glue on the jute cording in a loop.  This will form the hangar for the wood slice ornament. If you use the link above the wood slices come pre-drilled and with jute. If you pick up yours from a big box store and dont want to drill you can use this method.

 

Now on to the fun part – the wood burning.  Use caution when using the wood burning tool.  I use pliers to change the hot stamp tips to be extra safe.

I used a small flower stamp for the center of the snowflake, and a large square stamp, and an exclamation point and a round point writing tip to create a snowflake pattern.  I hope you have enjoyed my Wood slice Christmas Ornament and this version of a wood slice snowflake.
